Getting Around DC
Washington DC is home to…Capitol Hill
Architectural marvels like Union Station, the Supreme Court, and the Library of Congress, as well as Eastern Market (DC’s popular farmers’ and flea market), add to the allure of “the Hill”.
Southeast/East of the River
Breathtaking views of the city, the historic Frederick Douglass home, the Smithsonian Museum of African-American History and Culture, and some of DC’s best kept real estate secrets can be found in Southeast.
Shaw/Howard University
One of the oldest and most renowned historically black colleges and universities and a top research hospital, Howard University, is located adjacent to Duke Ellington’s boyhood neighborhood. The “U street corridor” houses one of DC’s hippest communities with eclectic shops, nightlife and world famous Ben’s Chili Bowl and other notable eateries.
Adams Morgan/Columbia Heights
The city’s most diverse neighborhood, the heart of DC’s Latino community is also a hotspot for young professional nightlife.
Georgetown
Known mostly for Georgetown University and high-end shopping, it also boasts historic homes, waterfront attractions and the legendary Blues Alley jazz club.
Parks and Outdoor Recreation
Whether attending one of the many free outdoor concerts and plays throughout the District, horseback riding in Rock Creek Park, planting vegetables in a public garden, or paddling past the cherry blossoms along the Potomac River, there is plenty of greenery for everyone.
DC Waterfront
Southwest DC offers fresh seafood, local cruise lines, an extensive bike path and a vibrant restaurant/club scene on the banks of the Potomac River.
Sports, sports, sports
Professional basketball, football, hockey, soccer, and baseball will be right in your backyard! Top-level college teams compete year-round, and summertime on the National Mall offers the amateur athlete plenty of league and pick up options from kickball to volleyball to frisbee.
